FAQ

Upon completion of some brief paper work which provides us with general information about yourself and your condition, Dr. Lipton will meet with you to discuss the specifics of your condition.

Consultation
Dr. Lipton will obtain detailed health information including your past medical history, family history and history of your current problem. You will have the opportunity to have your questions answered, express your concerns and discuss your expectations and goals for treatment.

Examination
A thorough examination will be performed including orthopedic and neurologic exams. Specialized functional testing such as postural analysis, gait analysis and joint and muscle testing will also be utilized to formulate an accurate and individualized treatment plan. If necessary, you may be referred out for radiological testing such as x-ray, MRI or other similar tests.

Following the examination, you will be advised if your condition can be helped at our clinic, or if it would be more appropriately managed by another health care provider.

Treatment
Treatment on the first visit will depend upon the specifics of your condition. Most treatment will be rendered to help make you feel more comfortable. Treatment may include electric stimulation, ice or heat, spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapies and stretches or exercises.

Home Instructions
Prior to leaving, the doctor will give you self-treatment advice or instructions for self care. This may include advice about restriction or modification of activity, specific exercises or stretches or instruction regarding the use of ice or heat.

During this time, Dr. Lipton will review your history and examination findings and formulate a diagnosis and detailed treatment plan specific to you. The doctor will discuss your "report of findings" which will provide you with information about your condition including:
  • What is wrong
  • How can it be fixed?
  • How long will it take?
  • How much will it cost?
  • How will the integrated services be utilized?
  • What to expect during treatment
Schedule Your Next Appointment
You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. In general, follow up visits are scheduled 1-2 days after your first visit. The frequency of subsequent visits will be determined by your condition.

For your convenience, you may print and fill out the new patient health history form by clicking on the link below. Be sure to bring the completed form with you on your first visit to the office.
